As a nature or landscape management governance or land-owning organization, you can come into contact with the fans of the area you own, manage or govern through Greenmapper Friends.
You can build a community with the people that hold a special place in their heart for your place . You can have discussions with the people from far-away and the residents in the area.
Co-create policy, learn about what matters most to the people that like the area and find out if they are willing to help you fund conservation efforts or sustainability projects and whether they are able to support your place with new ideas or helping via other means.
How does this work?
We ask you draw the area(s) you manage, own or are important for governance on the map.
People participating in Friends draw their favorite nature-related areas on the map as well.
When their places overlap with your area they automatically become a member of your community.
You can get in touch with these people through your community by means of open discussions, ‘pol.is’ discussions, polls, pledges and online meetings. People can also share creative expressions related to community, that may give you an idea of how and why they appreciate your area.
After you created your community you can immediately see how many people are connected to you area; this number show up in a dashboard of your areas. These people now also see your area in their communities overview, so everything is ready to start communicating with them.
What do we ask of you?
First of all we ask you to draw your area(s). If you have multiple areas or you are in the possession of GIS data, you can also contact us to discuss the option of uploading your GIS data.
Second we need some information about you and/or your organization. With this information we can verify your application.
What are your options with the community?
As previously stated we offer several ways you can get in contact with your fans.
We can also provide you with an analysis of your fan-base as to where they come from and what preferences they hold related to your area. Keep in mind that all the interactions are via the platform; we do not provide personal information like name, (email)address, etc. about the fans of your area.
You do not have to do all work within the communities yourself!
You can appoint ‘moderators’ to help you with management of the community. These are fans that request the moderator role and which you can approve. Typically this is also a nice way to work as a consortium of organizations. We for instance regularly work with groups of organizations like: nature conservation, local government, touristic organizations.
Please keep in mind that, due to technical reasons, it is not possible to use the same email address as both a fan and a land manager! So please use a different email address if you want to first explore the platform as a fan.
Does it cost anything?
For light-users that only use the application as it is now, there are no costs. If you have specific needs in terms of data handling, tweaks to the software, or the size of your activities we require a contribution from your side. For instance with many of our partners we create special landing pages to allow the active building of the fanbase and engaging the fans in different experiments or questions.
The amounts we charge depend on what we need and what you can afford.
